A few posts ago I left you with a photo of me that is rather unbecoming. It broke my heart to see myself through the eyes of another. And isn’t that really what a photo is? Sometimes the lens can be so unforgiving!

I cried at my desk when I saw myself that way. And I made a vow to myself. That person is not who I want to be. That person is now how I feel on the inside. So I vowed to change it.

The one eating style I know works for me in the weight loss arena is Atkins.

For the past 9 days I have been eating on average 14 carbs per day, and NO sugar… not one little grain of that goodness has past my lips. The first few days were difficult. I was hungry. I was craving. But by the 4th day I was doing pretty good. I’m not hungry at all anymore… even when it’s meal time.

My typical day of nutrition goes a something like this:

  • Protein shake
  • Atkins bar

  • Shaved chicken breast with mayo/dijon sauce
  • 1 oz sharp cheddar cheese

  • Some type of meat (hamburger patty, chicken, steak)
  • Shredded lettuce with chopped cucumber, ranch dressing

  • Pork rinds

And you know what? I’ve dropped 9 pounds! In 9 days!

The weight loss will slow down over the next week or so but I’m on the right track now. I have 40 more pounds to lose and I will do it!

Being an adult is like looking both ways before you cross the street and then getting hit by an airplane.

  1. I know you will….
    Calcaneus’ are showing….

  2. I tried Atkins. It did work for me, but it wasn’t healthy for me.
    I wish you success. 🙂

And I love the whole tangly thing, too. My zen for sure.

  3. Sounds like you’ve made a great start and you have something that will work for me. Eating isn’t my problem; I need to move more. Lots more. With my fatigue, it’s really hard. But I’ve started over today on my health plan. Best wishes to us both!

Oh, and guess what. I started to tangle. I’ve definitely found my strengths and weaknesses so far. I’m good at precision. I stink at the more free flowing. And I have no idea about shading. But I’ve just started and I’m excited to play with it and learn. It’s been a long time since I really focused on learning something new. You were my inspiration, so thanks for that.

    • I’m so happy to hear you are tangling! It’s such a healing thing. And you discover talents, thoughts, ideas that you didn’t know were there. I can’t tell you how much it has helped me. I’ve got such a better grip on my pain and ADD like brain. And depression… I tangle and it helps. When I get really down I like to take watercolor pencils to a finished tangle and color it up. Yay! I’m so happy you are doing this!!

Good for you on starting your health plan. We will succeed! We will! I will be your cheering section! I know how hard it is to move through the fatigue. I wish there some better word than fatigue because that word just doesn’t do the feeling justice at all.

  4. Congratulations and Good luck. I really need to follow suit.
