with all the complaints about law enforcement floating around – all the civil unrest – all the folks talking about how the cops are shooting and killing their angels… i have to say, it’s about time this starts to happen… the Austin police have released the 9-1-1 tapes from an officer involved shooting that happened in our area recently. a couple of citizens called to tell 9-1-1 that the officer was in a struggle with someone and that the suspect was trying to take the officer’s gun from him… nice! if you go to that link you can hear the calls…. vindication for the police…after the cop shot and killed the suspect, he attempted to do CPR but was unsuccessful. there has been protests and community uprising – folks are saying that the cops are profiling certain people in certain areas. they have said that the suspect was a good guy who was making changes in his life every day….

as it turns out, he was in possession of a butt load of cocaine and a wad of cash. he has been arrested more than 30 times for violent crimes such as robbery, agg sex assault and kidnapping….. quite the angel eh?

at some point, you would think people would start to realize that the cops aren’t all bad guys… they are out there doing a job… they are dealing with some real turds. now don’t get me wrong, i’m not implying that all cops are good either… there are some bad apples in the bunch, just as there are in any profession…. BUT as a rule, cops are good… they are doing a service that most don’t want to do…

and i think that more agencies need to start releasing these types of recordings to prove their position. the media is doing all they can to sell their product and the masses just gobble up the bad shit… if they start putting out more of the good stuff to the media, they will have to cover it… and maybe, just maybe, there could be a shift in attitude?

probably not…. just wishful thinking on my part

Being an adult is like looking both ways before you cross the street and then getting hit by an airplane.

One Response to “finally some vindication for the cops”

  1. Not a job that most of us could do. Can you imagine having to go to the house of a stranger and tell them that their son/daughter/husband/wife has been killed? Aaaargh.
