  • Outside my window – the yard is starting to look sorta pretty… I’m getting those blasted sticker burrs under control. My potted plants are coming out of their shock from being shoved in the shower when we moved… I couldn’t think of any better way to keep them upright as well as protecting the carpet in the tin can from that potting soil. My flowery plant however, isn’t doing so well. It just wasn’t meant to live in this heat…. and the ants are colonizing the flowery plant… it’s their own personal high rise
  • I am thinking – about what I want to do today. It’s wide open. I think first on the agenda is a bit o’laundry before the heat settles in. Then it’s down to some sketching for at least 20 minutes. Coach will be coming home for lunch. After that, I might just venture over to that huge arse library that used to be a Wal-Mart.
  • I am thankful – that I woke up this morning breathing clear and able to walk for the most part. Last night I was quite dizzy and having a hard time. I was hoping that it wouldn’t last & thankfully, it didn’t.
  • In the kitchen – Chicken salad for lunch and steak & salad for dinner… yum!
  • I am wearing – my most favorite clothes ever. My favorite brand is Danskin. I love their casual clothes… I have on a pair of long shorts with a drawstring waist and my Fuzzy’s Tacos t-shirt.. the t-shirt is special as it was given to me by a good friend! I miss you Squaw!
  • I am creating – me. Or the redefined me. And it’s been quite a process. I find that I’m still feeling a bit guilty, but not as badly as before. I’m enjoying being home and taking care of Coach. And I think he might like it too.
  • I am going – hmm. I mentioned the library up there… where else? In September I’m going to Austin to see the neuro… the day before I’m going to Brenham & will spend the night with my family. I miss them.
  • I am wondering – why it is that an Olympic athlete who has been training since birth & who qualified for the Olympic team would be doubted. It really got under my skin that there was so much news about that girl swimmer… I mean come on. Let’s test her AGAIN because there is NO way she could be a man’s time? Pft. What a way to mar up the fact that she won.
  • I am reading – well, I am just finishing up with the Sustainably Creative book & getting ready to crack open Getting Your Important Work Done (not literally cracking it open since it’s an e-book) (oh, and it’s featured over there on the sidebar with a link to a preview of the book in case anyone would be interested in it) I just finished up with the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime… great book… I wish there would’ve been more to the story though.
  • I am hoping – that waste management decides to return to work soon. They are working on a skeleton crew obviously & it’s getting pretty annoying (not to mention uncomfortable)
  • I am looking forward to – football season. I never ever ever thought THOSE words would come out my mouth.
  • I am learning – to be a better sketcher & creative person
  • Around the house – it’s clean! I can’t believe it. Well, I can because I have the time to work on it a little bit here & there. It feels nice to have a tin can that has room for all of our stuff… everything is finding a place that is providing a non-cluttered space. This is good.
  • I am pondering – on what to do about creating some shade for the outdoor living room. A gazebo would be nice but the ones I can afford would just blow away in the winds around here. I started looking around online at the wooden variety gazebos and pergolas… wow. High dollar. Then I looked at some sun sails. I like those a lot & they are quite affordable. However, they would require Coach digging 4 fairly deep holes and setting some fairly tall wood posts to attach the sail to. It’s doable. I just don’t want to give him any projects. Football is zapping all his time & energy right now… and that is how it should be.
  • A favorite quote for today – “Art is the proper task of life.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
  • One of my favorite things – is that very first cup of fresh brewed coffee before the sun has come up. I complain frequently that Queen Beulah wakes me up before the rooster is crowing (of course we live near a confused rooster that crows all day & all night) but in reality I love that time of the morning. I get a cup of coffee & the 2 of us sit out on the front steps. It’s calm. There’s not much wind. The stars are still out & the sky is just beginning to lighten. It’s a wonderful way to start my day.
  • A few plans for the rest of the week – nothing is on my busy, busy agenda. I’ll do some laundry, make lunch & dinner. We’ll watch a bit of the Olympics here & there. And if I get my way, we might just go out for dinner one more time… maybe Chili’s. I have missed that place.
  • A peek into my day – I think I’ve pretty much summed it all up in all those other bullet points up there… if you missed something, I suggest you go back and re-read paying a little more attention this time , would ya’?
  • And a picture –

Being an adult is like looking both ways before you cross the street and then getting hit by an airplane.
