D.E.N.I.E.D

That is the word I got from big brother today.

Just 2 days ago I faxed them the paperwork they sent for more information. The denial letter was dated August 1st. Why in the world would they deny me before they had all the requested paperwork? Damn government.

So now… I have a decision to make. Get a lawyer or scrap it. I am thinking GET A LAWYER and see what happens. I don’t know how long we can hold out living on just one income. That’s the hitch… as I’m sure it is for anyone going through this process.

Bastards.

  1. Ditto what everyone else prescribed — I’m a day late and a dollar short, as usual!! I think these kinds of lawyers don’t get paid unless/until they win the case. We have a ton of them up here!
    Peace,
    Muff

    • i talked to some offices today and you are right… they work on contingency… and they only get paid if i win… and they only get a percentage of the first payment… i’m going to see a few on monday… time to start fighting with big brother!

  2. I am so sorry, but have to add my bit and say don’t give up. Everything crossed for you.

  3. Hi Sherri

I would resend the exact same papers you sent a couple days ago and see what happens. A lawyer will cost, so if you are a pain in the ass, it may not be necessary.

I’ve heard they will deny the first, second and even third attempts. Don’t give up!

    Stay inspired!

    • i’m not giving up yet… i plan to stay on this path until i can’t afford to any longer… when we can no longer finagle bills & food i will might have to rethink it… i hope it doesn’t come to that

  4. Unbelievable. That is wrong in the worst possible way. The sad thing is having to get a lawyer for something that should be your right.

  5. Call them and tell them I said “don’t make me come down there”, that should do it.

  6. Oh, no. And it’s definitely worth pursuing unless you think you can work, which I know the answer to that so don’t give up. It has made all the difference in the world for me to have that income and also access to Medicare.

    • I’m going to pursue it. I figure this is the government’s way to cull out those who don’t really need it. They make it just difficult enough that you must really need the assistance or it wouldn’t be worth your while to appeal and all. I’m going to find me a lawyer tomorrow :)
